Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
~ John 21:25
Revival is happening in the Spokane area. Right. Now.
As believers in local churches, we have lots of opportunities to engage in ministry inside our church buildings and outside them as well. All we need to do is step into what is already happening.
Using able hands and willing hearts, a Jesus movement is sweeping Spokane. Much like back in 30-40 AD, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are doing so many things in Spokane today that there are not enough books written to hold it all.
Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.
~ Eph. 5:14
That is certainly happening right here, right now! All sorts of individual revivals are taking place, as GSAE (and so many others) are fanning the flames. We’re blowing on those embers, and God is igniting the timber!
GOD IS ON THE MOVE! The Lord is waking us up out of the pews in which we have been sleeping, calling us out on the ledge of faith, and then nudging the body of believers to step out.
Let me give you a quick example:
With the Lord’s help, we were able to coordinate with a local donor and two Fellowship of Christian Athletes directors to get 500 local high school kids (150+350) to two showings of the movie ‘Woodlawn’ where they clearly heard the Gospel. One of the FCA directors followed up in an email:
“I just want to thank you again for all your support in running with this crazy idea. Many kids came up to me expressing how much they loved the movie. The most important thing is that Jesus was introduced to these kids. I know that for some this was the first time. The seeds were planted and now we watch them grow… I know this would not have happened if we hadn’t begun this. Praise God. Amazing things happen when God shows up!!!”
Then I heard from the other FCA director:
“We had over 350 students show up last night. We sold out the initial theater (280) and then gave tickets out to the other theater down the hall that was showing the same movie at the same time.
Maybe 200 kids and parents stayed in the lobby for perhaps 30 minutes afterward, talking about it and it’s impact. We had many great conversations. This movie is very evangelical and impactful, much more so than I thought going in. Kids and parents have been so appreciative and thankful but we also know that the enemy was and is at work. He is a slimy and powerful pig. But many pray and were praying and it is true that, ‘greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.’ Our principal and a number of teachers and coaches came. Some of the rough kids I prayed would come, did come. May the Lord do His supernatural work, from the inside out, in lives who need Jesus.”
Next year is the 70th anniversary of the founding of Greater Spokane Association of Evangelicals (1946-2016). Because so many of you supported us this past year, and through God’s Holy Spirit, the GSAE has life!
The Lord has used GSAE to connect ministries and people together – building unity in the Spokane Body of Christ. Through your gifts and prayer support, God has enabled us to increase unity in the Spokane Body; to help believers engage with kids in local schools; to train men for men’s ministry; and to continue to develop a Biblical Leadership Development program.
We can’t thank you enough for stepping into the Spokane revival that is happening before our very eyes.
